The world-renowned Harlem Gospel Choir is synonymous with vocal power, glorious sound and infectious energy. For more than two decades, the Harlem Gospel Choir has been America’s premier gospel choir and has traveled the world thrilling audiences with the inspiring power of black gospel. The choir was founded in 1986 by Allen Bailey, who was inspired to sing while attending a celebration for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the Cotton Club in Harlem. The choir showcases the best singers and musicians from black churches in Harlem and the New York/Tri-State area each November and December.
The Harlem Gospel Choir has performed alongside superstars such as Bono, Diana Ross, The Gorillaz, André Rieu and more recently Sam Smith, Damon Albarn and Pharrell Williams. They have sung for three presidents (President Obama, President Carter and President Nelson Mandela), two popes (Pope John Paul II and Pope Benedict XVI) and have recorded with the likes of Sir Keith Richards, The Chieftains and Trace Adkins.
