The festive event of Relay for Life revolves around solidarity and fundraising for the fight against cancer. Because cancer never sleeps, we show solidarity with all the Battants and their loved ones during the event by walking or running in relay for 24 hours.
The three ceremonies – opening ceremony, candle ceremony and closing ceremony – are the three key moments of the Relay for Life event:
The Opening Ceremony: The Lap of Honor of the Battants marks the start of the Relay for Life. This is the first lap of the track, carried out by people suffering from - or having suffered from - cancer, encouraged by their family, their loved ones and the different teams participating in the Relay.
The Candle Ceremony: The Relay also provides an opportunity to reflect during the Candle Ceremony, which has a triple symbolic objective: to honor the memory of those taken by cancer, to support those who suffer from it and to celebrate those who have overcome it.
The Closing Ceremony: The Closing Ceremony is an opportunity to honor all those who made the Relay possible, especially those who took turns on the track for 24 hours. As a finale, all these people run one last lap of the track together.
