What I call forgetting - Theater
How can one die without reason? Inspired by a true story, this poignant monologue vividly recounts an often ignored everyday violence.
It's the story of a gratuitous murder. A man enters a supermarket, opens a can of beer and drinks it. Four security guards appear, surround him and take him to the storeroom. There, in the middle of the canned goods, they beat him to death. For a can. For nothing.
Accompanied by a musician, the narrator, played by Luc Schiltz, takes hold of this tragedy to grasp its mechanisms and understand the origins of a violence that seems to be omnipresent in our society. By plunging us into the victim's head, sharing both his memories and his last moments, he entrusts us, as a responsibility, with the memory and painful humanity of this man.
In her nuanced staging of Laurent Mauvignier's text, Sophie Langevin places the brilliant talent of her actor at the center. Trying to put words to the unthinkable, Luc Schiltz draws us into a sublime ode to brotherhood, which touches us deep within ourselves.
