To accompany the Hélène Buchholtz Salon program, the Bridderhaus offers a selection of 25 black and white photographs dating from the post-war period in Esch-sur-Alzette. Through the lens of Théo Mey and Marcel Schroeder, the exhibition highlights various aspects of 50s and 60s photojournalism and documentary photography. Between aesthetics, documentary concerns, and anecdotal details, these images reveal the city of Esch-sur-Alzette and its inhabitants during an era when the iron industry dominated daily life. Marcel Schroeder (1919-1999) was an ARBED employee, while Théo Mey (1912-1964) worked for various post-war illustrated magazines and newspapers. Both document the modernization of infrastructure as well as the small and large events of daily life in Esch-sur-Alzette. This exhibition was realized with images from the archives and collections of the Photothèque de la Ville de Luxembourg.
