We are honored to welcome one of the most influential visual artists in Detroit’s burgeoning techno scene.
To celebrate our 7th anniversary, Abu Qadim Haqq, also known as "The Ancient," will be presenting his book "33 years of techno art & afrofuturism," published last year, and performing one of his legendary live painting sessions along a DJ set by his talented daughter Qadira.
He started Third Earth Visual Arts in 1989, providing graphic support for Transmat, Planet E, Metroplex, and Underground Resistance. Haqq quickly made a name for himself in the UK and Europe, collaborating with labels such as Rephlex, R&S, and Tresor.
His approach and artistic work were likely influenced by his passion for science fiction concepts, the post-industrial and musical environment of the city, and also by Japanese animation artists such as Dai Sato (Ghost in the Shell and Cowboy Bebop, anime classics).
This combination probably led him to develop the mythology of Drexciya through the comics "The Book of Drexciya Volume 1&2."
This remarkable career has opened doors for many people. His journey led us to question the interactions between sound and vision. How they feed each other. Don’t miss his very first visit to Luxembourg and its greater region, as well as a Q&A session with the audience.
