Lynnée Denise is a DJ, writer, researcher, and multidisciplinary artist. Originally from Los Angeles and now living in Amsterdam and elsewhere, Lynnée Denise has compiled an alternative archive of black queer music and spaces from New York, Chicago, London, Detroit, and Johannesburg, spanning over 20 years. To describe her sensitive and theoretical approach, she coined the term "DJ Scholarship," redefining the role of the DJ from a mere party entertainer to an archivist and cultural worker. (A)BlackQueerSound is a sonic journey through time and space between gospel, soul, funk, disco, and dub.
