Born in 1963, Xavier Veilhan develops a multidisciplinary practice, from sculpture to live arts, that questions the perception of reality by exploring the various challenges of its representation. Among his emblematic projects is the exhibition at the Château de Versailles in 2009, during which he created Le Carrosse, a symbol of the place transfigured by the speed of its race and its purple color, now exhibited on the Place de la République, in front of the Arsenal in Metz.

In 2017, during the 57th Venice Biennale, Xavier Veilhan created Studio Venezia, which demonstrates his desire to propose new forms. The French pavilion becomes an immersive sculpture that serves as a setting for a recording studio offered to musicians from all over the world. Reflecting the work in his own studio in Paris, the project developed organically, imbued with the atmosphere of a place of life and exchange that took shape through the meetings between invited artists and visitors.

The frame of the workshop, composed of about ten collaborators, constitutes the matrix of Xavier Veilhan's work. The Paper Tube Studio, a space in which Shigeru Ban and Jean de Gastines imagined the architecture of the Centre Pompidou-Metz, is also an essential source of inspiration for imagining this new project.

For this occasion, the artist invites visitors to experience the creation of his latest series titled Film Catastrophe. Like a tribute to the ephemeral, everyday objects mixed with objects found in the workshop are stacked to better destabilize and immortalize their fall in short filmed sequences. Visitors create their own sculptures, shaped in a spontaneous and provisional manner, which they film collapsing in the PTS, transforming it into a filming studio.
