In the absence of their fathers who have gone on a trip, Octave, son of Argante, has fallen in love with Hyacinte, a poor girl of unknown birth whom he has just married. While Léandre, son of Géronte, has fallen in love with Zerbinette. Argante, father of Octave, returns to town to marry him. None of these liaisons were planned by the fathers. Terrified by the return of their respective fathers, they will ask for help from Scapin, Léandre's valet. The latter, through various tricks, tries to achieve his ends and satisfy Octave and Léandre. But unfortunately, everything will turn against him when the characters finally understand the deceitful nature of our dear Scapin.
