The Battle of the Ardennes is the last major German offensive of World War II. It begins on December 16, 1944, when German troops advance against the Allies in the Luxembourg and Belgian Ardennes. It was supposed to be a short and swift attack that ultimately lasted several months. Despite initial successes, the attack fails and precipitates the end of the war in Europe.
