Pioneers is an ode to the artistic and political commitment of filmmakers Lois Weber and Germaine Dulac, feminist activists and major figures in the avant-garde of silent cinema. Their films Suspense and La Cigarette, very innovative in their form, marked by a powerful rhythmic and sensory dimension, constitute the first affirmations of feminist cinema. Maguelone Vidal and Alain Grange accompany the scenario and The plastic images with a chiseled musical gesture, by turns melodic, textured, acoustic or electric.
