“We drink tea to forget the noise of the world”. Lu Yu, tea master in the Tang dynasty (618-907).
A cross between circus art and object theater, Baraka is a tender, mischievous show in which two characters, like idle bartenders, play absurd games that are aesthetic or comic, virtuoso or simplistic.
In the pure tradition of burlesque, and to the rhythm imposed by the genre, they divert objects from their original uses, making teapots fly and glasses dance, levitating sugars in mechanical choreography, making tea bags undulate like the flute player makes the snake rise...
Carried along by poetic or rhythmic oriental music, the characters move back and forth between duel and duo, taking the spectator to the limits of the theater of the absurd.
An invitation to stop... just for a cup of tea!
