The issue of homelessness has grown in larger cities. In the 1970s and 80s, one could observe 'traditional homeless people' in some isolated areas. They were somewhat regular figures whose stories were known to many. This situation changed drastically with the proliferation of drugs. The line between drug addicts and homeless people blurred. Additionally, with the opening of borders, begging expanded. Homelessness has grown and become more visible. We face a problem that will persist and must be better understood, especially since we are confronted with multiple types of homeless individuals with varied motivations. The exhibition 'Who’s Next', created by the Architekturmuseum der Technischen Universität München (Pinakothek der Moderne), presents a range of architectural approaches to address the phenomenon of homelessness. It toured Munich, Hamburg, and Bolzano and comprises a series of examples of cities outside Europe, case studies within the European territory, and concludes with a view on Luxembourg. The exhibition uses panels, videos, and models as communication tools. International examples like Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, Hong Kong, and Munich, highlighted by the exhibition, should encourage reflection on possible solutions. Refusing a radical rejection and developing a nuanced sensitivity towards the phenomenon is an objective.
