Regular Guided Tour: A Walk Through Art
Every Friday, you can join a free guided tour of the permanent exhibition “A Walk Through Art”. European drawings and sculptures, 17 - 19 centuries. The permanent exhibition at Villa Vauban takes the visitor on a journey through three centuries of artistic creation: from the 17th-century Dutch, through the dream spots of Italy, to French painting in the mid-19th century. Besides the styles and epochs with numerous masterpieces, the exhibition allows to discover small formats and miniatures as well as a spectacular room dedicated to Pescatore’s acquisitions, a donor and benefactor to the City, during the auction of works owned by King William II of the Netherlands in 1850. This wide variety of subjects and artistic styles is echoed in an immersive video projection at the very beginning of the tour, setting the visitors in the mood for the works they will discover during their walk through art.
