Even today, Jean-Pierre Beckius is often referred to as the "painter of the Moselle", while his paintings are characterized by a great variety of motifs and his artistic skills go far beyond the imitation of impressionist painting.

To mark the 125th anniversary of the birth of Jean-Pierre Beckius, the exhibition presents the different periods that characterise the painter's work. It focuses on little-known or completely unknown works by the artist, who left behind a large legacy of paintings and drawings, most of which belonged to his family. The selection is complemented by works that are part of the Villa Vauban collections. These are mainly works created abroad, in France, Italy and the Netherlands, but also portraits of members of the Beckius family. The artist's life is documented through photographs.
