--- Theme
The aim of this training is to create a new form of laboratory dialogue on the animated movement of a body or an object.
--- The puppet
There will be several possibilities for the work: creating puppeteer/dancer play pairs, or experimenting with this dialogue solo.
We will begin with the fundamentals of our practices: warming up the actor or actress-puppeteer, stage presence, relationship to the object, to the material, to improvisation, manipulation, breathing, the poetry of movement, of the body and of the object.
To connect with Mélanie's work, I would ask you to pay particular attention to the movement of the body "augmented" by the puppet prosthesis.
Fake hands, a series of legs, arms, masks and puppet heads will modify the quality of movement of the performers in order to create a hybrid being.
You will experience construction work with materials such as kraft, worbla, latex or plaster.
Thus, we will work the body as animate and inanimate through the manipulation of space and through the empty space around us.
Working with objects, puppets or materials and then removing them to leave the body in space with the trace of the objects.
We will work on the choir and the duo in a crossing of our arts in order to create a new artistic dialogue.
No level of puppet manipulation is required to participate in this course.
Professionals wishing to enrich their practice, enlightened or curious amateurs: everyone is welcome.
--- The dance
Through a series of exercises and practices, we will seek the limits of the intentionality of our movements. How can we dance without feeling in control of our own gestures? If the experience of a total abandonment of the consciousness of movement is impossible, or belongs to the realms of trance and ritual, it is nevertheless possible for us to get closer to this state. We will then see dances emerge that have nothing to do with the desire to show technical abilities, but which are entirely based on self-abandonment and listening to the environment. The dancer is a receptacle in which a movement is engaged that surpasses him and moves him in spite of himself.
This work of the body without will is complementary to that of object manipulation proposed by Clémence Joseph-Edmond during which the actor is both manipulator and manipulated.
No dance level is required to participate in this workshop. Professionals wishing to enrich their practice, enlightened amateurs or curious people who have never danced: everyone is welcome.
