Do you know the Lorrain Roman dialect? It is one of the two regional languages of Lorraine, as the Moselle department has a particular specificity born of its history, that of being crossed by a linguistic border. In the east: Platt, derived from Frankish of Germanic origin. In the western part, including the Metz region: the Lorrain Roman, an Oïl language like the entire northern half of France. This dialect is threatened with extinction due to a lack of speakers. Revitalization efforts through teaching, culture, and associations are essential to preserve this rich linguistic heritage.

Through a selection of various works, dictionaries, anthologies, almanacs, discover the peculiarities of the Lorrain Roman dialect in an exhibition at the Salle Carrée des Archives de Metz, at the Cloître des Récollets. These documents are preserved in the municipal archives collections, and some are loaned by enthusiasts dedicated to preserving this language. This exhibition is presented as part of a somewhat special event: the release of the comic album "Lés pièrayes d’lè Castafiore," a translation into Lorrain Roman of Tintin's adventures "Les Bijoux de la Castafiore," by members of the Cercle des Patoisants de Moselle. An amazing initiative that emerged under the impulse of the Tintinophile association "Tonnerre de l'Est" and the Patoisants, allowing everyone, young and old, to discover our regional language through a familiar comic book.
