5:30 p.m. SCREENING: WHEN:
2015, Rome. Giovanni (Neri Marcorè) wakes up after a thirty-one-year coma, caused by the fall of a flag during a rally in homage to Enrico Berlinguer, former general secretary of the Italian Communist Party. This rebirth, as an adult, is a shock. Giovanni, who for a time cherished the hope of regaining the ties he had with his family, his girlfriend and his political party, realizes that everything has changed. The world he knew is no more. Perplexed and nostalgic, Giovanni can nevertheless count on the support of Giulia (Valeria Solarino), a nun who took care of him during his years of hospitalization, and of Leo (Fabrizio Ciavoni), a young man who suffers from selective mutism. Thanks to them, Giovanni recovers his physical form, but above all, he agrees to take a new and benevolent look at his present and to give meaning to this second existence.
8:30 p.m. SCREENING: SOLE CUORE AMORE:
Eli (Isabella Ragonese) and Vale (Eva Grieco), both in their thirties, are friends. Eli is a mother of four children and her husband Mario (Francesco Montanari) is unemployed. She is a waitress in a bar in Rome and every morning she gets up at four thirty and travels two hours, by bus and metro, to get there. Despite these long and tiring journeys, and an unaccommodating boss (Francesco Acquaroli), she works hard and in a good mood. Vale, on the other hand, is single, free and lives only for dancing. At night she supplements her income as a nightclub performer.
Eli and Vale, so different, have kept a deep sisterhood, a bond that resists the crushing weight of social difficulties imposed by life in Rome, which is not easy when you have no money. However, friendship is not always enough to solve material difficulties and relieve the exhaustion of Eli, a true courageous mother, who fights against a reality that overwhelms her and does not spare her.
