The rise of perils affects the safety of individuals and organizations mobilized for human rights across all continents. Relying on the recommendations of the United Nations, Luxembourgish development NGOs highlight, through about fifteen testimonies, the men and women who stand up to defend human rights. Their struggle, aiming for a fairer world, concerns us all. Human rights violations are a phenomenon that NGOs see worsening. Alerted particularly by the shrinking civic space in the Southern countries where their local partners operate, NGOs and the University of Luxembourg invite the Luxembourgish population to become aware of the courageous commitment of human rights defenders and the fate they face. Many men and women engaged in the peaceful struggle against social and environmental injustices that weigh on their communities are often the target of violent repression.
