Metz-Photo returns with its 13th edition, June 2024 - June 2025, “Prose and poetry, an aesthetic in-between”. For the 13th edition of Metz Photo, Charles Collongues is our patron.

Born in Pau in 1993, he is a photographer graduated from the school of Condé Nancy where he developed his thesis on “The Aesthetic of Photographic Prose”. His practice of the photographic chamber and his documentary approach characterize his style. In 2018, his series on Europe was exhibited at the Maison Robert Schumann in Scy-Chazelles.

Within the masterclass organized by Photo-Forum, he invites participants to reflect on the photographic aesthetics of their project: prose, poetry... or a clever mix of both? Everyone should develop their own unique perspective. The five exhibitions on the theme “Prose and poetry, an aesthetic in-between” are creative illustrations of this.

Metz-Photo 13.3, Dominique Ferveur, “ Look at the Meuse, Approach of a rural territory”, « This work questions the representation of a rural territory, that of a particular department, the Meuse, its identity, the result of an inevitable evolution and perhaps not so irreversible of our society. It is not about making an inventory but rather letting oneself be guided by emotion, perceiving its uniqueness, its peculiarities. Deserted villages and abandoned houses testify to a declining rural economy and reveal the heritage of our past.

Aesthetically, I have moved away from reality, from the truth that does not exist in photography. The images are treated like watercolors, reducing contrasts and the brightness of colors. A slight white veil covers the landscapes suggesting a world of the past gradually fading away. It is an invitation to discover and appreciate the beauty and wealth of this department while becoming aware of its fragility. »
