Ernest and Celestine, Feast Days

  • exhibition

Immerse yourself in the world of Ernest and Célestine through this exhibition presented in the four media libraries of Metz (Verlaine, L'Agora, Sablon, Phénix). With Ernest and Célestine, it's always a festive time, from morning till night, come rain or shine, everything is an excuse to laugh and have fun! Preparations, tidying up, crafting, shopping, everything is done in joy and good humor, often with music, as there's always a celebration to prepare or a story to tell.

About the artist:
Monique Martin, also known as Gabrielle Vincent, is a Belgian artist. Born in Brussels in 1928, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in 1951 and chose to devote her life to painting and drawing. As a painter, she deeply explores the richness of black and white: Indian ink, pencil, charcoal... She also explores color, through all techniques, but mainly watercolor and pastel. Under the pseudonym Gabrielle Vincent, she created 'Ernest & Célestine' in 1981. With Ernest, she revived her artistic mentor, one of the most important people in her life. With Célestine, she reinvented herself, creating her image. She also produced other albums for children and adults, some of which gained great international success, notably in Japan.

An exhibition presented as part of Noël en fête in the media libraries of Metz.
