How can we make a fragmented, unreconciled world tangible so that it opens up to meaning again? The author Navid Kermani poses this question again and again in his texts, directing his attention precisely to where political conflicts seem to erase humanity. This question of reflecting on a world that has become intangible also concerns the theater. Eva Mattes and Roberto Ciulli use Kermani's texts as a starting point and compass for an expedition to question our present.

This is the first time that two artistic personalities have met on stage whose unusual theatre biographies have left their mark for almost sixty years and continue to do so today: Mattes, who has shaped the new German film since her first leading role in a feature film, soon worked with Rainer Werner Fassbinder and Werner Herzog, and later created milestones in German theatre history with Peter Zadek, among others. Roberto Ciulli, legendary director, founded the Mülheimer Theater an der Ruhr in 1981, shaped German theatre like no other, and later brilliantly questioned the old role assignments through his own work as an actor. Both are independently linked by a long dialogue with Kermani and his work.
