To welcome the Chinese New Year of the Wood Snake, the Confucius Institute at the University of Luxembourg is organising, in collaboration with the Union Commerciale de la Ville de Luxembourg (UCVL) and Galeries Lafayette Luxembourg, its Chinese New Year celebrations in the city centre of Luxembourg on Saturday 25 January 2025. Numerous stands and activities around the Chinese language and culture, as well as a dragon parade are on the programme.
Stands and activities
Various stalls around traditional Chinese arts will be set up at Place d'Armes. A unique opportunity to try your hand at Chinese calligraphy, Chinese painting and many other activities. Culinary specialties will also be offered – a treat for the taste buds.
Chinese Dragon Parade and Dance
A Chinese New Year would not be complete without its traditional Parade. To ensure the show, the Confucius Institute worked with the French Association of Chinese Dragon and Lion Dance (AFDDLC) of Paris, which formed a European team of athletes specialized in Chinese martial arts. The performers present for the occasion come from Luxembourg, France – Wuxing School, located in Moselle – and Belgium – TAOREN Academy. The dragons will awaken at 3:00 p.m.
All these activities are open to everyone.
Let yourself be transported by the magic of the Chinese New Year, come in large numbers!
