In Queen of the Air, composer Albena Petrovic, the United Instruments of Lucilin ensemble and mezzo-soprano Luisa Mauro, heiress to a family of aviators, immerse us in the fascinating world of Amelia Earhart. Presented at the Théâtre des Capucins on the occasion of International Women's Day, this monodrama pays tribute to an exceptional, striking and inspiring personality.
An aviator who made history by becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic, Amelia Earhart's adventure was tragically cut short in 1937 when her plane disappeared during a transatlantic flight, leaving behind an unsolved mystery and etching her name in history for eternity. More than an aviator, Amelia symbolizes the desire to surpass the human condition and reach unattainable heights, like Icarus in Greek mythology. Like him, she flew towards the sun, and by burning herself in this quest, she left an indelible mark on the collective memory.
