Round table: What remains of the Enlightenment? - Politeïa Festival
The Enlightenment, a key movement of the 18th century, championed the ideals of freedom, reason, progress, and emancipation against obscurantism. Yet today, this intellectual movement is sometimes accused of obscuring tragic abuses, including colonialism, slavery, and imperialism that have shaped Western history. What remains of these ideals in the face of criticism? Can the Enlightenment still inspire our thoughts in these uncertain times?
With Antoine Lilti, Peggy Sastre and Jean Birnbaum.
