Official Selection - Out of Competition. In a village in southern Egypt, a group of girls rebel against society by forming a street theater troupe. Dreaming of becoming actresses, dancers and singers, they defy their Coptic families and the locals with their daring performances.

Filmed over a period of four years, 'On the Edge of Dreams' follows the journey of these young girls in their quest to become women. "Are you happily married? Don't you think you were too young when you got married?" These are rare questions in some parts of Egypt, but the members of the Panorama Barsha troupe - from the Coptic minority - dare to address them. They, who dream of becoming directors, singers or dancers, are filmed at a crucial turning point in their lives and in the urgency of their demands.
