Movie-snack: Totto-Chan, the Little Girl at the Window
Tokyo, early 1940s. Tetsuko, known to everyone as Totto-Chan, is a lively little girl who gives her teacher a hard time, eventually getting expelled. Her parents decide to enroll her at Tomoe, a school like no other, where old train carriages serve as classrooms. The director emphasizes children's independence and creativity. As Japan plunges into war, Totto-Chan will discover that life's small experiences are more important than lessons. Adapted from the best-selling novel Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window by Tetsuko Kuroyanagi.
