Spring Awakenings chronicles a group of teenagers discovering the tumultuous world of sexuality and struggling to navigate a world torn between information overload and a growing desire for structure. Director Anne Simon and playwright Antoine Pohu base this multilingual production on Frank Wedekind's play Frühlingserwachen, which they reinvest with new material drawn from interviews and developed in workshops with teenagers. The source material of the bold play, written in 1891 but resonating unsettlingly with current hot topics, is thus supplemented and challenged, reflected and contested by the realities and voices of today's youth.
