Press conference, meeting with the artists, an eco-friendly spot in the middle of a park, and 6 LIVE concerts, (yes yes you read that right... LIVE in the flesh and sweat) 🤓.
It was this Saturday, June 12, that two of our supermirettes went there to attend the new musical event of the year: the Francofolettes. Oops 🙊 we wanted to say the Francofolies of Esch/Alzette 😇

INTRODUCTION: THE FRANCOFOLIES BEFORE ESCH 2022
Why Esch/Alzette? The goal was to develop the fame of the Grand Duchy throughout the world 🌍. But also to gain notoriety before, during and after Esch 2022. Think of it as a thunderous introduction to the European Capital of Culture ⚡
And, marvellous, 40% of the artists in this year's program were from Luxembourg.
A new edition of this cultural, eco-local, touristic and social project will reappear on June 5, 2022. QUICK QUICK, write it down!

PART 1: MEETING WITH CAMÉLIA JORDANA
Others will talk about the number of songs written during the lockdown, or the clothes she wore on stage, her political or even feminist convictions. But why we'd like to speak like anyone else? We'd like to speak about our meeting with Camelia Jordana in all simplicity. 🌸
'FACILE': Camélia is above all an accessible person, who took the time to answer the questions of journalists. With frankness, she affirms her convictions by respecting the opinions of others, even on thorny subjects or others will prefer to use a stereotyped language (uyyyy it hurts! 🌵). We met a real artist, who lived a period of 'creative bulimia' during the crisis.
'FRAGILE': she revealed that in order to write she had to go through suffering, it was only recently that she realized she could talk about intimate subjects with lightness (and that people liked it 😊). Curious and creative, she can create a song for you in minutes just after playing conductor with the waves. She's always eager to learn from others, she made us understand that you have to surround yourself well to move forward. It's also with a lot of tenacity and courage that she went for production.
In any case, Camélia, if you read this article, objectives achieved! The audience sang along and got up from their chairs to dance (staying in front of their chairs of course) 🔥

PART 2: 6 CONCERTS / 1 STAGE AND A CRAZY ATMOSPHERE
Have you ever been to a festival where you get served at your chair? Yes darling the super volunteers took the orders and you paid "cashless" with your bracelet (super classy we love it 🥰).
TRACK 1: Meskerem Mees - beautiful soul voice!
This little piece of a woman with the voice of Nina Simone opened the ball accompanied by her banjo-like guitar 🪕 and her cellist. An intimate concert and moments of silence amidst nature and acapella sounds.
TRACK 2: Nicool - 100% local hip-hop
Before entering the stage we saw her bouncing, warming up to give it all 🔥. As a duet, she made us sing "stolz" and "fake biatch" in Luxembourgish. One thing is for sure, 'It sent steak' as Evan from Essentiel Radio (the host of the evening) would say.
TRACK 3: Napoleon Gold - fusion passion
Electro-Classico atmosphere with a top-notch women's string quartet ('in praise of folly') 🎻, Jérome Klein on drums and of course Napoleon Gold on decks. He also brought a surprise guest for a special version of 'Name and Sign': the young singer Christy.
TRACK 4: Chilla - representative of French rap
Nice surprise! Just before her arrival, the organizers allowed the audience to get up from their chairs within safety distance 🥰. So she managed to make her fans get up from their chairs and hover on the acoustic version of "si j'étais un homme". Beautiful complicity with her musicians, you could feel that she was excited to be back on stage.
TRACK 5: Yseult - divina diva
A theatrical entrance in her water green dress and red-soled heels, a daring bet to succeed in capturing the public and making it move with a piano voice. Hey sexy lady! 👠 She thanked the audience for accepting her as she is, and advocated a speech to accept differences. Wow but what an impressive voice!
TRACK 6: Camélia - headliner of the evening
Good mood and lightness in its purest form! ☀️ She surprised us once again by bringing a super orchestra on stage, inviting herself on percussion and starting a little dance that lifted everyone off their chairs! A nice note to end this second first day of the festival.
To sum up, our impressions of the festival were: top organization, the whole Francofolies team on fire, the artists were sweating with happiness to see their audience again, the audience was super enthusiastic to be able to live a live experience again. Anyway, we'll go back next year, are you coming with us?
