THE FANTASTIC TRILOGY OF AMANDINE π§π»
"Never forget, the one who thinks he knows no longer learns".
It's in Le Pacte des Marchombres by Pierre Bottero, who wrote an entire saga that starts with La QuΓͺte d'Ewilan, and I love it! There is adventure, powerful characters who grow with time, we live the emotions with the heroes. In Le Pacte des Marchombres we follow Ellana, one of the characters, in her quest and there is a real philosophical dimension. π
I recommend it highly! And for any type of audience, from children to adults. It's perfect for escaping into another world. π€©

A MOVING STORY FOR MATHILDE πͺπ¬
One of my favorite books is Barbara Wood's Virgins of Heaven.
I read it as a teenager, many times. The last time I read it was a long time ago, but it completely transported me back to the time βοΈ. It takes place in Egypt in the 20s until the 90s.
We follow the main character's return to her native country from which she had been banished, and through her eyes and other characters, we discover the Egyptian culture π
, the mores of the society and we take a big dose of History. It deals with many topics such as the place of women in Muslim society π§π», family secrets, but also the political climate at the time.
I like this novel because it gives me emotions and allows me to learn a lot of things about the Egyptian culture, which fascinates me since I was a child.

SYLVIE'S TOUCHING NOVEL
"She was called Sarah" is a very moving novel, which tells the story of the atrocities experienced by a little Jewish girl.
From one day to the next, her world is turned upside down, she lives the horror of the concentration camps, separated from her family. Find yourself immersed in the heart of this fascinating novel that traces her journey and helps remember the atrocities of World War II, with the duty to remember π.
For those who prefer, there is even a movie adaptation π¬. I left a few tears there.

THE POETIC STORY OF PAULINE
The perfect book for the vacations! β±οΈ
Very small to carry, hyper easy to read and very quick between 2 swims or cocktails on the terraces πΉ. I really liked "La commande aux tiroirs de couleurs" and the sensitive and poetic pen of Olivia Ruiz.
An emotional journey, where we go from laughter to tears, through a story of women, transmission, from a grandmother to her granddaughter, exile, death, secrets and especially love, strength πͺπ», memories and family...

FOR THRILLER FANS LIKE LAURA
For thriller fans and mystery buffs π I highly recommend the book "When Darkness calls" by Mark Griffin.
It follows the adventures of Holly Wakefield, a criminal psychologist specializing in serial killers π΅π». Among the many cases she has already solved, one of them is going to give her a hard time π§ : her demons from the past are going to resurface as the investigation unfolds.
In addition to the suspense and twists π₯ the psychology of the characters is really complex and worked out. That's my favorite thing about thrillers: understanding the characters' point of view and following the impact of their past on their actions. β οΈ Spoiler, if you start reading the book... You won't be able to stop until the end!

ELFY'S FAVORITE BOOKS
If I were to talk business or for the education of a child π¦π», I highly recommend the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad: Robert Kiyosaki and his two fathers - his real father (poor father) and his best friend's father (rich father) - and how both men shaped his thoughts on money and investing. You don't have to earn a high income to be rich. Rich people make money work for them". π
Informative as hell, I couldn't pass it up in my child's education path. But basically, these are notions that I think the school π©π»βπ« should teach to all children to see and apprehend life differently and get out of the "metro-busy-sleep" slavery in which our modern society freezes us. And I think that my little boy Louis, 7 years old, has already understood this vision of things. And that's a great source of pride.
On a lighter note, how can we talk about books without mentioning "The Travel Book" π? Imagine a paper friend that talks to you, talks to you and in just an hour takes you on a journey deep inside yourself, kind of like an introspection π. You can re-read it as much as you want in your life... It will make you do things differently again. My nightstand companion since 2001.
