___MNM - MUSÉE NATIONAL DES MINES📍Rue de la Bruyère, Rumelange - LU

Board the mining train, pass through the lush vegetation of the open-cast mines and finish your journey in the mine gallery, where the temperature doesn't rise above 10°! Here it is, cool (but don't complain that you're cold!) ⚒️

Once you've cooled off, follow the guide through the various galleries, and learn more about the miners' way of life: dioramas, machines from the era, reconstructions... Having already visited, it's highly instructive and fun to do with the whole family!

Don't forget to put on your sunglasses on the way out, as you risk being blinded by the large ball of fire in the sky, commonly known as the “sun” ☀️

A little extra: in the late afternoon, when the temperature has dropped a little, you can enjoy the mining-themed playground, with facilities for all ages. You can also cool off in the museum's brasserie!

___CALYPSO - BADE & SAUBAWELT📍Deutschmühlental 7, Saarbrücken - DE

Opening the freezer door and sticking your head in isn't enough to bring your temperature down? Then a dip in the water is just what you need 🏊🏻‍♀️

If you're looking for a complete aquatic area, where you can find something for all ages, and you've already done the rounds of the Grand Duchy's swimming pools, we'd like to introduce you to the Calypso in Saarbrücken, about 50 minutes' drive from Luxembourg City.

A sports pool for swimming laps, a diving reef with tropical features at a depth of 3m for the more adventurous, Calypso Adventure Land for the little ones with slides, water jets and a giant jump that topples over, sensational slides with and without buoys, a wild river, indoor and outdoor pools... There's plenty to do all day, with the whole family!

Little extra: a pool bar has just opened for cocktails... directly in the outdoor pool 🍹

___GLACIER BARGELLO📍13 Rue du Fort Elisabeth, Luxembourg Gare - LU

It's the middle of the week, the temperature in your office is frightening, you're struggling to wave your fan around to try and get some air? After you've eaten your lunch, save room for dessert! Head for the Italian ice-cream parlour Bargello 🍦

On the menu, or at last in the window, a multitude of colors and frosty flavors await you: vanilla, pistachio, yogurt ice cream, bergamot, chocolate, amarena, in sorbet, ice cream, cup, cone, jar... The hardest part is not saying “yes” to all the flavors!

Our favorite is the charming little terrace at the back of the ice cream parlour, perfect for a good 15 minutes in the sun, away from the hustle and bustle of the city ⛱

___SLATE MUSEUM📍Martelange-Haut, Rambrouch - LU

In hot weather, is there only one thing you wish for: to be able to get into your fridge to enjoy a bit of coolness? We managed to find a place with the same temperature, but a little bigger: the Musée de l'Ardoise 😎

Once through the door, watch out for thermal shock! You suddenly go from 30° to 9°! Through the various galleries, you'll be able to travel back in time to Luxembourg's slate quarries and learn all about their work.

Whether guided or self-guided, this is a family-friendly museum, with the possibility of taking part in slate workshops and activities at the end of the visit.

Be sure to bring a jacket and closed shoes (it's not fun or practical to go in flip-flops, if you ask us 🤭).

Pssst, even if it's VERY hot, we remind you that :

It's not a good idea to sleep with the fan and air-conditioning on full blast all night unless you want to wake up with a broken voice.Don't jump into your neighbor's pool (even if he's cool). And don't forget to drink lots of water!
