Why did Fort Thüngen survive the dismantling? How did landscape engineer Edouard André transform the former military site into a forest park? Hygienist thought has identified it as an ideal place for healing. Concerts and theater shows enlivened a site completely redeveloped in 1937 with its “Independence Pavilion” inaugurated in 1939. Identified as a tourist attraction, the site is made accessible to coaches. The installation of the European institutions at the Place de l'Europe will give it a new fate. The opening of MUDAM and the Dräi Eechelen Museum as well as the redevelopment of the surrounding area make it an urban park in constant development. Conference tour in Luxembourgish.
