The exhibition Duo Tea Sacculos at Espace H2O brings the recent works of Thierry Harpes and Jo Malano to the public, inviting viewers into a realm of pure fiction brought to life. Through symbolism and natural motifs, their dynamic dialogue reveals both shared influences and distinct styles, captivating visitors in an immersive artistic journey.

Thierry Harpes (born in 1991) studied fine arts under professors Robert Lucander and Mark Sadler at the University of the Arts in Berlin. Painting, sculpture and Installation are the main axes of Thierry Harpes' artistic practice, resulting from an iterative interaction. The layers of paint in the paintings can be called literal forms. As a result, the boundaries between drawing, painting, and sculpture blend or disappear completely. In this process-oriented composition, Thierry Harpes also incorporates concrete figures and signs, his own lexicon. These sections humorously and absurdly overturn the emphasis on material abstraction and foreground inherent in all of Thierry Harpes' work, thus opening another level of thematic association and connection.

Jo Malano's pieces, known for their distinct use of natural motifs mixed with abstract elements, blend into vibrant interior worlds. Across murals, paintings, and various media, Malano unites contrasts into a cohesive whole. His technique, from fine, filigree lines to broad, vivid strokes, paints him as both artisan and creator, connecting him to a lineage of historical painters. From blossoming walls reminiscent of the French Douanier to wilder abstractions, Malano's influences range widely; keen observers might spot the influence of a famed 19th-century Japanese woodcarver. His work, both deeply personal and universally inviting, feels like an exotic garden open to all.
